Zaikonospassky Monastery is a historic Orthodox monastery near central Moscow, founded in 1600. The surviving ensemble includes the Saviour Cathedral, 17th-century chambers, and later school buildings tied to Moscow's early religious and educational life.
It is a quieter stop than the Kremlin churches or Red Square, but worthwhile if you are tracing Moscow's older monastic and scholarly institutions through the dense city centre.
