Kazan Cathedral

Kazan Cathedral stands at the north-eastern corner of Red Square, a compact Russian Orthodox church rebuilt after the original was demolished under Stalin. Its bright colours and tented forms make it an easy stop between the State Historical Museum, GUM, and St Basil's Cathedral.

It is small, so you do not need much time here. The value is in seeing how Red Square's sacred, commercial, imperial, and Soviet layers sit almost on top of one another.
