The Tomb of the Unknown Soldier is Moscow's central war memorial, set beside the Kremlin wall in Alexander Garden. Its dark red stone, bronze soldier's helmet, laurel branch, and eternal flame honour Soviet soldiers killed in the Second World War.
The changing of the guard takes place on the hour during the day and is the most compelling time to visit. It is an easy, solemn stop when walking between Red Square and the Kremlin gardens.
