18 Stafford Terrace

18 Stafford Terrace preserves the Victorian home of Edward Linley Sambourne, a cartoonist for Punch, and his family. The house is open as a museum, with an Aesthetic Movement interior kept close to its 1899 appearance.

The appeal is in the dense, lived-in detail: Chinese and Middle Eastern-style furniture, patterned walls, art, photographs, and Sambourne's satirical work. It pairs naturally with Leighton House and the Design Museum, both nearby in Kensington.
