St Alfege Church

St Alfege Church is Greenwich's main parish church, designed by Nicholas Hawksmoor and standing close to the market and Cutty Sark. Its clean Baroque exterior is easy to miss beside Greenwich's larger royal sights, but the church gives the town centre a strong architectural anchor.

It is most useful as a short stop while walking between the DLR station, Greenwich Market, and the river. Concerts and organ recitals sometimes give visitors a reason to step inside rather than just admire the building from the street.
