Battersea Power Station is one of London's great industrial landmarks, instantly recognisable for its brick mass and four white chimneys on the south bank of the Thames. The coal-fired station closed in 1983 and stood empty for decades before being redeveloped.
The building now anchors a riverside district of shops, restaurants, flats, and public spaces. Even if you do not go inside, the exterior is worth a look for its Art Deco scale and its place in London's 20th-century skyline.
