Winchester Palace

Ruins of the medieval London palace of the Bishops of Winchester

Winchester Palace is a fragment of the 12th-century residence used by the Bishops of Winchester when they were in London. Only ruins remain, but the surviving wall and rose window give a useful jolt of medieval Bankside amid the markets, pubs, and railway arches. It is a quick stop, best folded into a walk between Borough Market, Southwark Cathedral, and the river.
