St Mary's Church stands beside the Thames in Battersea, on a Christian site said to have been used since the early medieval period. The present Grade I listed church is largely Georgian, with a quiet riverside setting and a long local history.
It is not a headline London sight, but it rewards a deliberate detour if you are walking the Battersea riverside or interested in the older villages that were absorbed into London.
