Dennis Severs' House is an immersive historic house in Spitalfields, staged as if an 18th-century Huguenot silk-weaving family has only just left the rooms. There are no conventional display cases; the appeal is the atmosphere, with candlelight, smells, sound, and carefully arranged domestic details doing the work.
Visits are controlled and should be booked ahead. It is one of the most distinctive small museums in East London and pairs well with a walk through Spitalfields and Brick Lane.
