Cleopatra's Needle is the ancient Egyptian obelisk on the Victoria Embankment, originally made for Heliopolis and later moved to Alexandria before coming to London in the 19th century. It is an easy riverside stop between Westminster, Covent Garden, and the South Bank.
Look at the bronze sphinxes beside it and the damage left by a First World War air raid, which gives this imported monument a London story of its own.
