Union Chapel is a striking Gothic-revival church on Upper Street that is still an active place of worship, a homelessness charity, and — most famously — one of the most beautiful live-music venues in London. Concerts take place under the soaring octagonal nave, with the audience in the original pews and the performer lit beneath the great arches; the acoustics and the setting make even a small show feel special.
The programme runs from folk and singer-songwriters to jazz, classical, and the long-running "Daylight Music" free weekend sessions. The building itself, with its rose window and tower, is worth seeing by day. Check listings and book ahead — gigs here sell out, and the atmosphere is unlike any conventional venue.
