Whitechapel Art Gallery has been showing modern and contemporary art since 1901, with a history that includes exhibitions by Picasso, Pollock, Frida Kahlo, Gilbert & George, and Lucian Freud. It remains a useful East London stop for changing exhibitions, artist events, an art bookshop, and a cafe.
