The grand white-marble opera house at the western edge of the historic centre, begun in 1904 in art-nouveau style and finished in art-deco after a long pause for the Revolution. The interior holds murals by Rivera, Orozco, Siqueiros, and Tamayo, and the famous Tiffany glass stage curtain depicting the Valley of Mexico. The Ballet Folklórico de México performs here several times a week — book a few days ahead.
