Parque México

Art Deco park at the centre of leafy Condesa

The oval Parque México sits at the heart of Condesa — it was laid out on the site of an old horse racetrack in 1927, and its curving boulevards still trace the bend of the original track. The park is a tight 9-hectare loop of jacarandas, Indian laurels, an Art Deco bandstand, and the Open-Air Foro Lindbergh theatre, all in the Art Deco style of its 1920s development.

Joggers, dog-walkers, and yoga classes fill the park from 7 am; in the evenings the cafés around its perimeter spill out onto the pavement. The streets ringing the park — Amsterdam, Michoacán, Mazatlán — are the heart of the Condesa restaurant and bar scene.
