The last surviving stretch of the canals and floating gardens (chinampas) that once filled the lake on which Tenochtitlan stood, now a UNESCO site in the city's far south. Hire a flower-painted trajinera by the hour at one of the embarcaderos and drift through the canals — mariachis, marimba players, and floating taco stands all come past. It's a Sunday institution for chilangos and a long but rewarding trip from the centre by metro and light rail.
