Østerbro

Østerbro, north of the city centre along the coast, is the wealthiest and most residential of Copenhagen's main neighbourhoods. Broad tree-lined streets, elegant apartment buildings from the early 20th century, and a general atmosphere of quiet prosperity — this is where the Danish establishment lives. The neighbourhood surrounds Fælledparken, the largest park in Copenhagen, which hosts summer concerts and the Danish national football stadium.

Classensgade and Nordre Frihavnsgade have the best cafes and restaurants in the neighbourhood — less trendy than Vesterbro or Nørrebro, more local. The Langelinie promenade along the harbour, where the Little Mermaid and Kastellet are located, forms the western edge of Østerbro. A bike ride along the waterfront from the Little Mermaid up through Østerbro and into the deer park at Dyrehaven is one of the best day trips from central Copenhagen.
