Arguably the best modern art museum in Scandinavia, set on the coast at Humlebæk, about 35 km north of Copenhagen. The museum's pavilions are linked by glass corridors that wind through a sculpture garden overlooking the Øresund strait. The Giacometti collection is extraordinary. In good weather, bring a picnic for the grounds. Easily reached by train from Copenhagen -- take the Kystbanen line towards Helsingør and get off at Humlebæk station; it's a ten-minute walk from there.
