Niels Bohr Institute

The Niels Bohr Institute is one of the most important physics research institutions in the world — founded by Niels Bohr in 1920, where much of the foundational work in quantum mechanics was developed. The institute is located in a series of buildings on Blegdamsvej in Østerbro, and while it is primarily a working research facility, the grounds are open and the location is worth noting for anyone interested in the history of science.

Bohr's office and the main building are from the early 20th century and have the modest, practical architecture characteristic of Danish academic institutions. There are occasional public lectures and the institute has a small exhibition on Bohr's life and work.
