Greektown is a single short block of Monroe Street between Beaubien and St Antoine, a cluster of Greek restaurants, bakeries, and the Hollywood Greektown casino. The neighbourhood dates to the late 19th century, when the area filled with Greek immigrants. Pegasus Taverna and the New Parthenon are the long-standing taverna options; Astoria Pastry Shop is the place for galaktoboureko and baklava.
There is also a Greek Orthodox church (Sts Constantine and Helen) and the Second Baptist Church, the oldest Black congregation in Michigan and a station on the Underground Railroad. The People Mover stops at Greektown and the downtown core is a short walk west.
