The MGM Grand Detroit is the largest of the three downtown casinos, with around 4,000 slot machines, table games, a poker room, several restaurants, a hotel, and a nightclub on the top floor. Detroit's three casinos — MGM, MotorCity, and Hollywood Greektown — opened in the early 2000s after a state referendum legalised commercial casinos to keep gambling revenue from crossing the river to Windsor.
It is not a destination in the Las Vegas sense, but the property is large, well-kept, and a reasonable bet for a night out. The TAP sports bar shows games; D.Prime is a high-end steakhouse. Adjacent to Corktown and a short cab from Michigan Central Station.
