Brush Park is a compact historic district just north of downtown Detroit, known for the High Victorian mansions built for the city's wealthy families in the late 19th century. Many houses were lost or left vacant during Detroit's long decline, but the restored survivors still show the scale and confidence of the old neighborhood.
It works best as a short architectural walk between Midtown and downtown. Look for the ornate brickwork, turrets, and deep porches that gave Brush Park its reputation as one of Detroit's grandest residential streets.
