The Dequindre Cut is a two-mile pedestrian and cycle path built into a below-grade former railway corridor that runs from the Detroit RiverWalk north to Eastern Market and now beyond to the residential neighbourhoods. Because the path sits 20 feet below street level, the experience is quiet and removed from traffic. The exposed concrete walls are an open-air gallery of legal graffiti and large-scale murals.
Pick it up at the Atwater Street ramp near Milliken State Park on the river, or at the Gratiot Avenue entrance near Eastern Market. Combining the Cut with the RiverWalk makes a satisfying linear walk or bike ride.
