Hatanpää is a public park on a peninsula jutting into Lake Pyhäjärvi south of the city centre, centred on a 19th-century manor house that now serves as a medical facility. The arboretum has over 600 species of trees and shrubs, one of the most extensive collections in Finland, with large rose gardens that bloom in July and August.
The park is more formal than Pyynikki but the lakeside setting and the scale of the planting give it its own appeal. The manor house terrace looks out over the lake and is a good spot to sit in the late afternoon. Accessible by tram from the centre; the walk along the lake shore from the city adds another pleasant hour.
