Tammerfest is Tampere's main outdoor music festival, held over four days in July in the city centre. Multiple stages host Finnish and some international acts across rock, pop, hip-hop, and electronic genres. The main stage is in the Central Square area, making it one of the few Finnish festivals that happens entirely within an urban centre rather than on a festival field outside town.
The festival draws around 50,000 visitors and covers enough stylistic ground to be worth attending even if the headliners don't match your precise taste — the city atmosphere makes it more interesting than comparable outdoor events. Tickets can be purchased for individual days.
