The Old Church of Tampere (Tampereen Vanha Kirkko) on Vanha Kirkkopuisto is the oldest church in the city, built in 1824 in a neoclassical style. The surrounding churchyard is a peaceful green space in the middle of the city with mature trees and historic gravestones. The church itself is small and sparsely decorated by Finnish standards.
Worth a short stop for the churchyard rather than the interior, which is locked outside service times. The park around it is a pleasant place to sit and one of the few historic green spaces in the city centre.
