Tampere Railway Station

Tampere's railway station was built in 1936 in the Finnish Functionalist style — a clean, horizontal building with a distinctive clock tower that remains one of the best examples of Finnish modernist public architecture outside Helsinki. The station sits at the eastern end of Hämeenkatu, which means it functions as the city's main arrival point and the start of the main civic axis.

The station hall interior has been well maintained and retains much of its original character. Worth appreciating as a piece of architecture rather than merely a transport hub — the proportions are excellent and the materials (granite, brick, and steel) have aged well.
