Tampere Art Factory (Taiteen ja kulttuurin Tampere, known locally as Taiko) occupies a former industrial building in the Tammela district east of the centre. It functions as an umbrella organisation hosting artist studios, small galleries, a theatre space, and various cultural projects. The emphasis is on emerging and experimental work rather than established names.
The galleries have open hours most days and admission is generally free or minimal. The building's informal atmosphere makes it more accessible than a conventional gallery — artists often work in the studios during open hours and conversations happen organically. Worth an afternoon visit if you want contemporary Tampere art outside the major institutions.
