Tampere Orthodox Church

Tampere's Orthodox church (Aleksanterin kirkko) is a striking building in the Kyttälä district, designed by Nikolai Salko and completed in 1899. The red-brick exterior with its characteristic Orthodox domes stands out in a city whose religious architecture is otherwise firmly Lutheran. The interior has a traditional iconostasis and a collection of icons, several of which are historically significant.

Small and seldom crowded, the church is an easy stop for architecture or religious art enthusiasts. Services are held in Finnish and Church Slavonic.
