Märchenbrunnen, the Fairy Tale Fountain, is the ornate entrance piece of Volkspark Friedrichshain. Designed by Ludwig Hoffmann and opened in the early 20th century, it lines up stone arcades, cascades, and figures from German fairy tales in a theatrical little garden.
It is not a reason to cross Berlin on its own, but it is a charming stop if you are walking through Friedrichshain or using the park as a break from the surrounding streets. Children tend to like the figures; adults may enjoy how grandly Berlin once treated a public park fountain.
