Museum Karlshorst occupies the building where Nazi Germany signed its unconditional surrender on 8 May 1945, ending the Second World War in Europe. The historic surrender room is preserved, and the wider exhibition focuses on the German-Soviet war, the occupation period, and later German-Russian memory.
It is one of Berlin's most important Second World War museums outside the central tourist circuit. The location is east of the city centre, so plan it as a deliberate trip rather than a casual add-on.
