Tierpark Berlin is the large zoo in former East Berlin, set in broad parkland around Schloss Friedrichsfelde. It feels more spacious and green than a classic city zoo, with animal enclosures spread across one of Europe's largest zoological gardens.
The grounds make it a good family stop, especially if you want a slower day outside the central museum circuit. The late-17th-century palace in the park adds an architectural stop to the animal exhibits.
