Buddha Jayanti Park is a quiet green space on the Delhi Ridge, created to mark 2,500 years since the Buddha's enlightenment. Its focus is a gilded Buddha statue set in a small pavilion on an artificial island, with broad lawns and shaded paths around it.
It is not one of Delhi's grand set-piece monuments, but it works well as a calm break between heavier sightseeing days. The park is most meaningful around Buddha Jayanti, when Buddhist visitors come here for ceremonies and the atmosphere is livelier.
