Kartavya Path is New Delhi's grand ceremonial boulevard, running through the heart of Lutyens' Delhi between India Gate and the government buildings around Raisina Hill. Formerly Rajpath, it is the setting for the Republic Day parade on 26 January and the Beating Retreat ceremony two days later. On ordinary days, the scale of the lawns, axes, and state architecture is the main reason to walk it.
