Hauz Khas Deer Park

Forested urban wildlife reserve adjoining the Hauz Khas Complex, home to spotted deer

The Hauz Khas Deer Park is a forested urban wildlife reserve adjoining the Hauz Khas lake and medieval complex. The park shelters spotted deer, nilgai (blue bull antelope), monkeys, and a rich variety of birds within its wooded trails. It is one of the best places in Delhi for birdwatching, particularly for raptors and waterbirds around the lake edge. Morning walkers and birders frequent the trails before the city noise picks up.

The park connects to the Hauz Khas ruins and lake on its northern side and to the Delhi Ridge forest reserve on the south, creating an unusual corridor of semi-wild land within the city. The walking paths are well maintained. There is no entry fee. Dogs are welcome on leads.
