Daily News Building

The Daily News Building is a 1930 Art Deco tower by Raymond Hood, built for the newspaper that gave it its name. Its strong vertical lines and restrained setbacks made it one of Midtown's classic early skyscrapers, and film fans may recognise it from the Superman films.

The newspaper has moved on, but the lobby is still worth a look if you are nearby. Its giant globe and wall weather instruments turn a quick architectural stop into something more memorable than another office facade.
