Orchard Beach is the Bronx's classic public beach, a 1.1-mile artificial shoreline created in the 1930s inside Pelham Bay Park. Its nickname, the Bronx Riviera, fits the summer scene: families, picnic coolers, boardwalk views, and Long Island Sound in front of you.
It is a seasonal trip rather than an all-weather sight. In summer, bus service makes it reachable without a car.
