Frick Collection

Old Master collection in Henry Clay Frick's grand Fifth Avenue mansion

The Frick Collection is one of New York's finest small museums, set in the former Fifth Avenue mansion of steel magnate Henry Clay Frick. The rooms are part of the pleasure: paintings, sculpture, furniture, and decorative arts are shown in a house built to impress.

The collection is rich in European masters, with works by Rembrandt, Vermeer, El Greco, Turner, Whistler, Renoir, and others. Allow time to move slowly; the Frick rewards close looking more than rushing.
