The Williamsburg Bridge opened in 1903 as a rival to the Brooklyn Bridge and is today the busiest pedestrian bridge in New York City. The walk from Manhattan to Brooklyn takes about 25 minutes and offers good views of both waterfronts and the East River. The bridge is particularly well-used by cyclists and has wide dedicated paths. At the Brooklyn end it deposits you at the corner of Bedford Avenue and Driggs, the centre of Williamsburg.
