Prospect Park

526-acre Olmsted and Vaux park considered by its designers their finest achievement, better than Central Park

Prospect Park was designed by Frederick Law Olmsted and Calvert Vaux and completed in 1867; Olmsted considered it, rather than Central Park, their finest achievement. The park is 526 acres of meadows, forest, a lake and the 90-acre Long Meadow — the longest uninterrupted stretch of lawn in any urban park in the United States. The Audubon Center in the Boathouse, the Prospect Park Zoo and the LeFrak Center skating rink are within the park.
