North Bund (Sichuan Road North)

Quieter northern extension of the Bund waterfront, north of Suzhou Creek

The North Bund, north of Suzhou Creek and less visited than the main Bund strip, has been developed since 2010 with contemporary towers including the Shanghai Tower viewing area and several mixed-use projects that offer a different perspective on the Bund experience — less crowded, more local, with better access to the waterfront.

The Siping Road Jewish community area, a short distance inland, has surviving buildings from the Sephardic Jewish merchant families who shaped Shanghai's colonial commercial history. The Ohel Rachel Synagogue (1920) on North Shaanxi Road and the Ohel Moishe Synagogue (now the Jewish Refugees Museum, already separately listed) are the main surviving religious buildings.
