Lujiazui Ferry and Harbour Area

Ferry terminal at the north end of Lujiazui connecting to the Bund by river

The ferry terminal at the north end of the Lujiazui Bund-side promenade connects the Pudong side to the Bund on the opposite bank. The ferry crossing takes approximately 15 minutes and costs a few yuan — the least expensive way to experience the Huangpu River and get the classic juxtaposition view of colonial and contemporary Shanghai simultaneously.

The ferry passenger mix — commuters, residents, workers — is more local than the tourist boat cruises and gives a functional glimpse of how Shanghainese use their river. The terminal area also has views of the ongoing commercial shipping traffic on the Huangpu, which remains one of the busiest urban rivers in the world.
