ANU — Museum of the Jewish People

ANU, formerly the Beit Hatfutsot, sits on the Tel Aviv University campus in the north of the city and is the world's largest museum devoted to the history and culture of the Jewish people. It was completely overhauled in 2021 with a new permanent collection covering the diaspora, the formation of modern Jewish identity, and contemporary Jewish life worldwide.

The exhibition is organised thematically rather than chronologically, with sections on language, music, photography, and the architecture of synagogues — including detailed scale models of seventeen lost synagogues from across the diaspora. Allow at least two hours. Bus or taxi from central Tel Aviv; the closest station is Tel Aviv University on the Israel Railways line.
