Jaffa Port

The Jaffa Port is one of the oldest continuously used harbours in the world — Egyptian texts from the fifteenth century BC describe ships unloading here. The current harbour is a small working fishing port at the base of the old Jaffa hill, with about a dozen fishing boats, a row of seafood restaurants, and a small flea market on the quayside on Saturdays.

The port hangar building has been restored as a gallery and event space. The walk along the breakwater out to the small lighthouse is the standard route, with views back to the old town. Reach the port by walking south along the beach promenade or down through old Jaffa.
