Habima — 'The Stage' in Hebrew — is the national theatre of Israel, founded as a Russian-Jewish theatre in Moscow in 1912 and relocated to Tel Aviv in 1928. The current building, rebuilt and enlarged in 2012, fills the northern side of Habima Square with a sober white facade and three auditoria.
The programming is mostly in Hebrew with simultaneous English subtitles available for the main shows. Tickets cheap by international standards. Even outside performance hours, the lobby and small gallery space are worth a brief visit.
