Levinsky Market

The Levinsky Market is a small but dense street of spice, dried fruit, pickle, and Persian-Jewish food shops in the south of the city near the old central bus station. It is the spiritual heart of the Balkan and Levantine food trade in Tel Aviv.

Smaller and less photogenic than Carmel but more interesting if you cook — the spice shops grind their blends to order, the pickle shops have rows of marinated vegetables, and the bakeries make Persian flatbreads in front of you. The surrounding street has cluster restaurants in the same Persian-Balkan tradition.
