The Hassan Bek Mosque sits between Charles Clore Park and the southern end of central Tel Aviv. It is one of two functioning mosques remaining from the Arab Jaffa villages that once stretched along this coastline, built in 1916 by the Ottoman military governor of Jaffa, Hassan Bek.
The mosque is in active use and is not open as a tourist sight, but the elegant stone exterior and tall slender minaret are unmissable when walking the southern beachfront. Friday prayers see substantial crowds.
