St Peter's Church

St Peter's is a Franciscan church on Kedumim Square in old Jaffa, built between 1888 and 1894 on the site of a medieval crusader citadel. The pink-painted facade and tall bell tower are the most prominent feature of the old town skyline from the sea.

The interior is in the Italian baroque style with a Spanish-built altarpiece and stained glass depicting the New Testament events traditionally associated with Jaffa — Peter's vision of unclean animals on a Jaffa rooftop, the raising of Tabitha, the loading of Jonah's ship. Free entry; open most days, closed in the middle of the day.
