Carmel Market

Carmel Market — Shuk HaCarmel — is the city's main open-air market and runs every day except Saturday from early morning to late afternoon. The northern entrance off Allenby Street is the noisiest, with fresh produce piled almost to the awnings. Walk south and the market transitions into spices, baked goods, fish, and the small Yemenite-Jewish neighbourhood of Kerem HaTeimanim that adjoins it on the west.

For a half-day visit, combine the market with the Nachlat Binyamin pedestrian arts and crafts market that runs Tuesdays and Fridays alongside it. The food stalls and small kitchens around the market are some of the best cheap eating in the city.

A story
Shuk HaCarmel runs along HaCarmel Street between Allenby and Kerem HaTeimanim and is the largest open-air market in central Tel Aviv. The stalls span fresh produce, fish, spices, sweets, pickles, prepared food, clothing, and household goods. The deeper south you go, the smaller and more traditional the stalls.
