Entsu-ji is a quiet temple in northern Kyoto known for its dry garden and borrowed view of Mount Hiei. The garden is the reason to come: the mountain is framed as part of the composition, so the scene feels larger than the temple grounds.
It is a calmer stop than Kyoto's headline temples and works best for visitors who already enjoy temple gardens, architecture, and slower northern-Kyoto walks.
