Imamiya Shrine

Imamiya Shrine is a north Kyoto shrine with Heian-period origins, traditionally associated with prayers for health and protection from disease. The current main structures are modern, but the shrine has a calm local feel and is easy to combine with nearby Daitoku-ji or Kinkaku-ji. Visitors often stop for the old teahouses outside the gate as much as for the shrine grounds themselves.
